Addon Reviews - Addon Control Panel (3.3.5)

"Addon Control Panel is easily my favorite World of Warcraft addon because having to re-log everytime I wanted to make a simple configuration in the addons list would make me crazy"

To check out the other addon reviews, go here  (here for the complete list).
What does it do?
First of all, it is quite a simple addon, but does great things: basically it allows you to configurate the list of addons you want to use in WoW (Molten-WoW) while in-game/logged in, so that you don't have to logout to the character screen every time you want to switch an addon on or off.

Does it use a lot of RAM?
No, not at all. I don't have exact information on how much RAM it uses, but it is fairly minimal. It is techinally only a GUI addon after all.

How To Download And Install ANY 3.3.5 Addon (Molten-WoW)

This "How To Get And Install ANY Addon (Molten-WoW)" tutorial is made especially with Molten-WoW in mind, but supports every other 3.3.5 WoW server as well (both retail and private).

Requirements:
  • Mac/PC that can run WoW
  • WoW Installed
  • Enough space on your hard drive (normally 0,1MB-30MB)
  • An internet connection
Download
  1. Go to Curse.com -> WoW Addons
  2. Choose an addon
  3. Click either "WowAce.com" or "Curseforge.com" (depending on the addon)
  4. Click "File"
  5. Choose the correct version
  6. Download it
OR
  1. Go to our "Addons For 3.3.5"
  2. Click "Download" next to any addon you want to download
Install
  1. Decompress the .zip file (UnrarX (Mac) and/or StuffitExpander (PC)
  2. Move the folder to World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns (please read the end of the tutorial on crucial information concerning this phase)

Finding good addons worth downloading:
This one is easy, just go to our "Addons For 3.3.5" page from the menu bar or click here. You can also go here for some addon reviews I have done or go here (Curse.com) and check out the most popular ones (you usually can't download the addons directly from there....).

If you find a good one on Curse.com first go to "Other Downloads" and check if there is an older file of the addon that supports your game client version (in case you play on a private server that DOESN*T support the latest retail patch).
If you can't find it there, chances are it might be elsewhere. In that case, just go to "Development Site" and it will bring you either to CurseForge.com or to WoWAce.com

1
There you will be able to navigate to "Files"

2
...and then choose the appropriate file (that supports your patch, 3.3.5)

3
...and download it.

How To Install

You must have downloaded the addons manually. Then go to "Downloads" (or wherever your downloads usually go) and open them with UnrarX (Mac) and/or StuffitExpander (PC).

ATTENTION!!! Be sure to check the addon folders after decompressing; there might me one folder too much

(for example): QuestHelper 3.3.5 (folder)>QuestHelper (folder)>QuestHelperlua

It should be: QuestHelper (folder)>QuestHelper.lua

In the first case, move ONLY the second folder to the Addons folder.

Now, all that is left for you to do is to move the files to the World of Warcraft (folder)>Interface (folder)>Addons (folder) and you're done!

If you have anything more to add, please do so by commenting this post or by
sending an email to: heworldofwarcrafetrs@wippies.com

Tip Of The Day - Which Faction To Choose

Ok, so this one is quite an important factor in the way that you are going to play. Read below to see why:
Les factions

  1. Players can only speak (comprehesible language) to others members of their faction (Horde/Alliance)     [I wrote "comprehensible language, as for example if an Alliance char says "lol in human language, Hordes will understand it as "bur"]
  2. Players can only be friends (in WoW) with other members of their faction (Horde/Alliance)
  3. Players CAN kill members of the OPPOSING faction (Hordes kill Alliance/Alliance kills Horde)
  4. etc...
So... You see? If for example a friend of your's plays on an Alliance character, then the only way to really play with him is to roll an Alliance character yourself. Then later on, you can both make Horde characters and play on them (optional).

Now... Some important factors on Molten-WoW:
  1.  Players have noticed that level 80 Alliance players gank a lot more lowbies (low level characters) than what level 80 Horde players do. I too have noticed this, and therefor, advise you to roll an Alliance character if you DON'T want to be ganked, or to roll a Horde character if you don't like the way Alliance players act want to teach them a lesson.
  2. Esthetics do matter, don't let anyone tell you the differ: You won't enjoy playing WoW if the looks of your character doesn't please you. Therefor, you might have to roll an/a Alliance/Horde character if you don't like the looks of the races of the opposite faction

TO BE CONTINUED....
No, really. I am going to continue this post in about 5-30min. I just HAD to go get some ice-cream ;D

How To Make WoW "Remember" Your Password (Mac)

ATTENTION!!! THIS ONLY WORKS WITH MACS (OS X)!!!

First, you will have to open an application called "AppleScript Editor" (Macintosh HD->Applications->Utilities->AppleScript Editor), then you will need to paste this exact same script into the window that opens:
set CR to ASCII character of 13
tell application "System Events"
tell application "World of Warcraft" to activate
 keystroke "passwordhere" & CR
end tell
Now, you will have to replace "passwordhere" with your password.
When all the phases above are completed, all you have to do is save the script as an application (File format->application), and choose whatever name and the location for this new app of your's.

Optionally, you can change the icon of your new app to look like WoW,
1. by right clicking the: "World of Warcraft (.app)"
2. and choosing: "Get info" (or by clicking it once, then using: command +i),
3. then by clicking the icon in the top left corner and copying it (command + c).
4. Now you will have to do phases 1 to 2 again, but with the new app we made,
5. then all you have to do is click (once) the icon in the top left corner,
6. and then paste (command + v)

When all the phases above are done, all you have to do is to open the new app and it will automatically log you in. ENJOY!!!

If you want to schedule the app to log in to WoW on a specific date(s) or every (mon/tue/wed/thu/fri/sat/sun), for a period (one week, one month/ one year) go HERE. It is a tutorial on how to make it happen,  but ONLY for Mac OS X.
